The last time I gave a manufacturing update, we were knocked down but hopeful. Well, I'm happy to say that we're still full of hope — and even better, we have TOWELS IN PRODUCTION!
If you're short on time (or just excited for the big news), here's the quick version: We expect to have towels back on our shelves by June or July of this year! Be sure to sign up for our texts and emails, and we'll let you know the moment they arrive.
Now, let's rewind a bit to share the full story:
In 2024, we faced some major setbacks. Our original towel manufacturer, 1888 Mills, closed their plant in Griffin, Georgia, in January. We quickly pivoted to American Merchant in Bristol, Virginia, only for them to close their doors in the fall of 2024. At that point, we honestly didn't know where to turn. There were maybe two other mills in the United States still making terry cotton towels, but neither had room in their production schedules, and our farm-to-home, small-batch model didn't quite fit their business approach.
But we didn't give up.
We explored alternative options. We sampled waffle weave towels, Turkish towels, and linen towels. While each had its merits, none quite captured what we knew our customers loved about our original towels.
Our customers have always valued the size, softness, and durability of our towels, and we were determined to maintain those qualities.
So, we kept pushing forward, having conversations and doing what we do best: working within the constraints of the American-made supply chain.
A New, Fully American-Made Towel
In February of this year, we met with a manufacturer in South Carolina. We toured their plant, learned about their process, and gained insight into their equipment and business model. Instead of demanding specific features right away, we focused on listening and understanding what they could do. We came home with samples, a better understanding of their capabilities, and a hopeful nod to move forward.
We designed our new towel to complement the strengths of their technology and equipment. We also agreed to be flexible with their production schedule to build a strong working relationship. We're optimistic that this will be the start of a growing partnership.
Our new towel will be available in Bath Sheet, Bath Towel, Hand Towel, and Washcloth sizes. They will be sold in sets of two or a bundle of six pieces. To start, they'll be offered in classic white with a fresh yet timeless dobby band design.
The Moral of the Story
Making products in America is about relationships, trust, and believing in a shared vision. It rarely comes down to order quantities, price points, or even capabilities alone. Instead, it's about finding partners who are willing to work together and do right by one another. It's easy to say, "It can't be made in America," but we choose to believe otherwise. The journey is challenging, and at times disheartening, but it's a mission worth fighting for.
We can't wait to introduce you to our newest towels this summer. You're going to love them!

Thank you for being so determined to keep your entire process here in the USA. I’m hopeful that the Trump Administration’s push and plans to get our manufacturing back to the levels of pre-NAFTA and that we will see textile mills blooming soon. It is a long road and thanks again for your dedication to US manufacturing!

This is great news. Thank you for not giving up. I loved your towels and had purchased a sample to confirm that there were everything I thought. Went to place the order for the full house of towels and they were gone. Loved everything about them. I have tried several other towels as well and nothing compares to yours. I continue to use old towels until I could find some comparable. Now I don’t have to. So happy. Congrats and thanks for sticking with your goals and principles. Your products are amazing.
