I don’t know about you, but I am tired. Exhausted. Overwhelmed. And I know I’m not alone. The last three months of the year have a way of stretching all of us thin. As a mother of three and a business owner heading into our most crucial season, it can feel like I’m running on empty. Soccer, cheerleading, photoshoots, product launches, harvest, and supply-chain curveballs have kept me moving at full speed this year.
But here’s the truth: this isn’t unique. This is life. And in the midst of it, I’m choosing to be intentional about the season we’re in—not rushing straight into Christmas. Yes, our storefront flipped to Christmas on October 1, but personally, I’m making space for Thanksgiving.
At Red Land Cotton, fall isn’t just a season of cooler weather and anticipation—it’s when we begin shaping the year ahead. Once the cotton comes out of the field, we determine what we’ll keep and how we’ll use it. How many pounds will become blankets? Towels? Sheets? Because cotton is harvested only once a year, the decisions we make now set the tone for 2026. We have one chance to plan well before the crop is gone.
And the good news? We’re dreaming and planning big for 2026. New releases, the return of customer favorites, increased production, and more of the pieces you love—made in greater quantities. More cotton moving through American mills. More U.S. manufacturing jobs. More opportunities to create heirloom-quality products that last. That is a blessing.
But harvest is hard. My dad and my brothers work long nights and every weekend. They only get a break when it rains. Once the cotton opens, it has to be picked quickly to protect the quality—and quality is everything. The pressure is intense, but this year? The cotton crop has been excellent: strong yields and beautiful quality. Another blessing.
From the field, that blessing moves straight into the gin. Many people don’t know that we custom gin our own cotton every year—and only our cotton. My dad built the gin in 1994. He jokes that it nearly broke him, and it is a beast to run, but it’s also a cornerstone of our vertically integrated process. It adds stress this time of year, but it also ensures we can deliver the quality you expect.
Thanksgiving arrives at the end of harvest for a reason. It’s a moment to celebrate the fruits of our labor—but the labor has to come first. Naturally, we come to the table tired. We show up worn out, but when we sit down, we finally see the fruit, and we count it all as blessing.
As believers in Jesus, we cling to the promise that joy comes in the morning—that our work is not in vain. God knows when we come to Him empty, and He restores us. I love how this season mirrors that truth: we bring our exhaustion and our need, and God provides a Savior. And then, only then, do we get Christmas.
This is why Thanksgiving matters. Before the celebration of Christ’s birth, we pause to acknowledge the work, the sacrifice, the challenges, and the grace that carried us through another year. We gather around the table and admire the harvest.
And I want to thank you for being a part of ours. Your support allows us to continue doing what we love: growing cotton on our family farm, crafting heirloom-quality bedding, and creating products that bring comfort and rest into your home.
From my family to yours—Happy Thanksgiving. I hope your cup is filled mentally, emotionally, and physically as you enjoy this season with those you love.
