Dear Valued Customers,
Here we are again with updates on the state of the textile industry in the United States. 2024 has been a tough year for everyone in business and that extends to almost everyone in US textiles. To our knowledge, 21 textile manufacturing plants have shut their doors this year.
Earlier this year, I let everyone know that our towel manufacturer for the last 7 years announced they were closing their doors. We pivoted and found another towel manufacturer in Bristol, Virginia. It was an absolute pleasure doing business with them and they made a beautiful towel that, hopefully, you are all enjoying now.
Sadly, this manufacturer also announced the closure of their plant in September. This leaves Red Land Cotton on the hunt again for a towel manufacturer. To be frank, we may only have 2 options left in the United States that have the capability to weave our towels.
I want you to know a few things:
1. Your purchases MATTER and have significant down stream effects.
2. We are NOT giving up. We will continue to pivot and innovate with the options available to us in these beautiful United States!
3. There are going to be inventory shortages. The supply chain is fragile but that is why we are here and we are doing the work to keep it HERE in the USA.
I have been encouraged by our customers support this year. Everything is more expensive and I know that means everyone is more discerning with their money and where it goes. We appreciate every investment in Red Land Cotton that comes in the way of a purchase. I know our suppliers appreciate it as well. We are all collectively working to keep this American dream alive and it couldn’t be more important than it is right now in 2024!
Warm regards,
